GENESEE COUNTY, MI (September 22, 2023)— The Greater Flint Health Coalition’s Commit to Fit program is set to host its thirteenth annual Fall 4 Fitness Challenge in October. The Fall 4 Fitness Challenge is open to all area businesses, organizations, and community groups who are interested in bringing wellness into the workplace and engaging in competition with like-minded community entities. Ultimately, the challenge aims to encourage employees to represent their organizations by being physically active while competing for the designation of Genesee County’s most active workplace.
This year, Fall 4 Fitness features a virtual walking challenge where organizations will travel along sixteen milestones throughout Australia such as the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney Opera House, and Tasmania – among others! There are two challenge route options available to ensure everyone can participate. The first route, “Have Fun,” challenges participants to log 6,000 steps daily, while the second route, “Get Active,” challenges participants to log 18,000 steps each day.
Commit to Fit Assistant Project Manager Alaina Larrea states, “The Fall 4 Fitness challenge is a great way for employers to offer a free health and wellness option for employees to participate in. Most organizations do not have a wellness budget, so it is exciting for Commit to Fit to be able to offer a free, friendly competition option. We are offering two route options to ensure everyone can participate.”
The Fall 4 Fitness Challenge is a great reminder of the importance of movement. As most workplaces feature desk jobs where employees generally find themselves sitting most of the day, this challenge will promote the prioritization of exercise. Some easy ways to incorporate movement into the workday include opting for walking meetings when applicable, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, parking further from the building, or getting together to take a walk during lunch breaks.
Organizations who are interested in competing can register here www.surveymonkey.com/r/F4F2023. Registration closes September 29. Call (810)232-2228 for additional details or to speak with Commit to Fit program staff.
