Greater Flint Health Coalition and HealthPlus of Michigan Host 2012 Fall 4 Fitness Business-to-Business Challenge Finale Event

Individuals from 60 participating businesses were on hand to learn the results of the second annual community-wide business-vs-business Fall 4 Fitness Challenge, co-sponsored by the Greater Flint Health Coalition and HealthPlus of Michigan. Fall 4 Fitness sought to offer a fun way to practice healthy behaviors in a competitive workplace challenge.

In this second annual event, local businesses and organizations signed up to compete with a one month goal for each participant to practice 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Nearly half of participants met or exceeded the total challenge goal of 900 minutes, and in total nearly 2.5 million minutes of physical activity were logged during the Fall 4 Fitness Challenge.

The Greater Flint Health Coalition and HealthPlus of Michigan announced the winners in the small and large business divisions of the challenge, as follows:

Small Business Division (Employers with 10-99 employees)

Winners – Highest Average Minutes Per Participant:
1st Place – Genesee Health Plan (1,553 Average Minutes)
2nd Place – Community Foundation of Greater Flint (1,528 Average Minutes)
3rd Place – Oppenheimer and Company (1,496 Average Minutes)

Winner – Highest Percentage of Total Employee Participation:
1st Place – The Rybar Group (100% Participation)

Large Business Division (Employers with 100+ employees)

Winners – Highest Average Minutes Per Participant:
1st Place – Advanced Physical Therapy Center (1,604 Average Minutes)
2nd Place – GCCARD (1,535 Average Minutes)
3rd Place – Genesee County Health Department (1,496 Average Minutes)

Winner – Highest Percentage of Total Employee Participation:
1st Place – Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company (74% Participation)

In addition to business winners, more than 33 cash incentives (totaling $3,000), fitness club memberships, and a Pure Michigan weekend getaway for two were awarded to individual incentive winners who were entered into the Fall 4 Fitness cash incentive drawing by meeting the goal of being active for 30 minutes per day throughout the four-week challenge period.

Social Media Video Competition Winner Announced
Participants also congratulated Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company as winners of the Social Media Video Competition, a contest encouraging employees to create 30-60 second videos on how their organization “Falls 4 Fitness.” Videos were posted and judged on the Fall 4 Fitness Challenge Facebook page. As winners of the competition, Pioneer State Mutual Insurance was awarded a $1,000 Wellness Cash Incentive to be used for new health and wellness programming for their organization.
